
The State Commission for the Coordination of Water Management in Central Asia has approved the water withdrawal quotas and the operating regime of reservoirs for the 2025–2026 non-vegetation period.
For the Amu Darya, the total quota has been set at 55.4 billion m³, of which 15.9 billion m³ is allocated for October–April. The distribution is as follows:
Tajikistan – 9.8 billion m³
Turkmenistan – 22 billion m³
Uzbekistan – 22 billion m³
A total of 44 billion m³ of runoff must reach the Kerki hydrological station.
Additionally, 4.2 billion m³ is allocated for the Aral Sea and the Amu Darya delta, including 800 million m³ reserved for environmental and sanitary needs of the Pre-Aral region.
