Petronas, Malaysia's national oil and gas company, is preparing to sign an agreement granting access to the development of Turkmenistan's largest gas field, Galkynysh. In this regard, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's visit to Turkmenistan is scheduled for mid-June.

The deal will mark a new stage in energy cooperation between the two countries — Petronas has been operating in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea for nearly 30 years.
