From October 19 to 23, 2025, the 16th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) was held in Geneva. The event was attended by the delegation of Turkmenistan led by the Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations N.Agahanov.

On October 20, N.Agahanov made a speech at the plenary session, emphasizing Turkmenistan’s commitment to the principles of open, mutually beneficial and sustainable trade-economic cooperation, as well as noted the need to strengthen partnerships between developing countries.

On the same day, a meeting was held between the Turkmen delegation and the UNCTAD Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan, during which the sides discussed priority areas of cooperation, including the development of digital trade, support for export potential, and increasing the sustainability of global supply chains.

During the 16th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Turkmen delegation organized meetings and events, including participation in a panel discussion and a conference for landlocked developing countries (LLDCs), where ministers adopted a joint statement on the development of transport and trade links.

Talks were also held with, representatives of the Geneva Centre for Neutrality, the Swiss Joint Chamber of Commerce (JCC), and the International Trade Centre (ITC), during which the prospects for expanding cooperation, promoting exports, and strengthening sustainable economic relations were discussed.

Following its participation in the 16th session of UNCTAD, the Turkmenistan delegation confirmed its readiness to further strengthen partnerships with international structures in order to promote sustainable economic growth and diversify the country’s foreign economic relations.
